Summer 1612-1616

Baroness Francoise de Valois never imagined that one day she and her husband would have to raise 9 children in the old castle, which had belonged to her husband's family for centuries.Nor did Cornille, the wet-nurse, imagine that she would nurse two generations of the same family.

Even so, with all the difficulties, everyone seemed happy. The children were ell healthy and well fed, and even without tutors, they seemed quite ready for the society.Maybe not for the noble society or for the life in the Royal French Court, but the Baron was sure they were able to earn their existence one day.Because there was no way that all his numerous children would inherit the old shabby castle. He wasn't even sure if he was able to pay the girls dowry.

Well, at least, his oldest son was already betrothed. And what an arrangement! He was still wondering how was is possible that the King had chose Maximilian as son-in-law.

The girls' problem was still at issue.Almost all were old enough to be betrothed, but there was still no offer of marriage for them.Madelon, the oldest of them was already 14 years old.

The fact that each of them was as chirpy as a cricket didn't seem to improve the situation.

Well... there was still time and while there was time, there was hope.At least for some of them.

The first set of twins, Agnesot and Marion. They inherited their parents' flawless skin and their mother's silken brown hair.

Denisete de Valois was used to her statute as the youngest of the family's children and grew a little spoiled by everyone. So she wasn't too delighted when her younger sisters, the twins Eleonore and Louise were born.

Remont de Valois, the youngest of the two de Valois brothers is very different from Maximilian.

The young man loves the society and dreams that one day he will move at the French Court.
